Programs for Individuals
William Penn House programs share a common thread of nurturing greater peace through reflection, understanding and actions. We develop and offer a variety of regularly-scheduled and special programs to do this. Programs include:
Potlucks - we host potluck/dialogs the first Sunday of every month. These always have a
presentation/discussion facilitated by either a Quaker or someone working in a Quaker organization. We also host bi-monthly potluck/dialogs facilitated by people working on issues of importance to Quakers such as voting rights, the environment, HIV/AIDS, and poverty. Please check our calendar for the upcoming schedule. We also welcome your interest in facilitating a dialog. All potlucks start at 6:30, with presentations starting at 7:30, and are open to the public. There is no charge.
Yoga - every Tuesday evening at 6:30 we host yoga for people of all ages. Cost is $15/class.
Youth/young adult/family seminars and Workcamps - throughout the year, we offer thematic and issue-oriented seminars and workcamps for people of all ages. Examples of these include Family Eco-Workcamps, Quaker High School Workcamps, HIV-Leadership Programs, and Workcamps for fellows and interns in DC. This year we are also organizing a 3-week "Creating the Peaceable Kingdom" Workcamp, addressing indigenous rights and the relations of Friends and Indians. Costs and lengths of programs vary. Check our calendar for upcoming events.
Professional Programs - we also run professional development programs that nurture greater peace in professions and institutions. Teachers of Peace and Appreciative Inquiry are two examples of the types of programs we offer.
We welcome you to check our calendar of events regularly, or sign up to receive our e-newsletters that include information about these events.
