True silence is the rest of the mind, and is to the spirit what sleep is to the body, nourishment and refreshment.

-- William Penn

Washington Quaker Workcamps

Since 1986, Washington Quaker Workcamps has created opportunities for people of all ages to experience the transforming power of love through service. All of our workcamps are grounded in the understanding that "work is love made visible" and in Jesus‘ command that we "love one another as I have loved you". Workcampers address social concerns in concrete ways and build relationships across differences of race, religion, or economic circumstance. Through these experiences, workcampers deepen their own spiritual lives as they break down stereotypes and practice compassion toward all members of our human family.

" I was able to see a different perspective of life and improve it for other people.

From this I learned that it isn‘t very hard to help people and that a small group of people can make a big difference."
