Please join us at Friends Place on Capitol Hill or online via Zoom on Thursday, March 14 for a screening and discussion of Tomorrow’s Freedom — a critical film in the conversation about peace in Palestine and Israel.

Made over the course of five years, Tomorrow’s Freedom provides an intimate look into the lives of the family of imprisoned Palestinian political leader Marwan Barghouthi. Through the Barghouthi family and in-depth interviews from the people who know Marwan best, Tomorrow’s Freedom takes you on a brutally honest, transformative journey into the heart of the Israel-Palestine conflict, featuring the voices of both Palestinians and Israelis.

Who is Marwan Barghouthi?

Marwan Barghouthi is a Palestinian political leader and elected official. He played a crucial role supporting the Oslo Peace Accords in the 1990’s. In 2000, Marwan was a key figure in leading the second Intifada against the Israeli occupation. Two years into the Intifada, Marwan was arrested by Israel and accused of ordering terror attacks in Tel Aviv. After 1,000 days of isolation, an Israeli civilian court convicted Marwan and sentenced him to five life sentences.

Even after decades in prison, Barghouthi remains a popular and influential figure in Palestine. Recent polls indicate that he could win the next Palestinian election, raising the possibility that Barghouthi could become the next Palestinian leader while he continues to be imprisoned by Israel.

If given the chance, could Barghouthi pave the way for an inclusive and democratic future and peace between Israel and Palestine?
